Over the course of history our attitude towards healing has significantly changed. From the cradle to the grave we are bombarded with information that push us towards some kind of chemical fix. Medication and everyday stimulants are increas- ingly becoming more accessible and present in our life, transforming our percep- tion of medical treatment into a synonym of instant relief, annihilating symptoms and aches and solving everyday problems, which unbalance our daily functioning. Medicine and the human being are continuously distancing themselves from one another, which doesn’t only create dangerous and unhealthy habits, but also leads to cracks in our social system.
In contrast to this alternative models of health and healing have been emerging, all of which focus on the human being as a whole rather than as single pathologies. One of these alternatives is the use of music in medical settings and treatment.
